Welcome to historical Buffalo, Leon County, Texas. Herds of Bison roamed the open range in our earliest years. In 1871, the International and Great Northern Railroad came through Buffalo connecting Laredo to Texarkana and other parts of the country. Cotton, watermelons and livestock contributed to the ecomony throughout the years prior to the gas/oil boom. In this quaint little country town new businesses blend with older historical parts of the town. Interstate 45 from Houston to Dallas provides an anchor to the west of the old town of Buffalo. Highway 79 connects the eastern and western United States. The Real Estate Company, located at 942 E. Commerce (old town) has been owned and operated for 18 years by Pat Ellison-Williams. It was recognized as the Business of the Year in 2005 and she was awarded Citizen of the Year in 2009.
